Carol Jean McElroy (aka Red) lived a full 70 years of life from August 8th, 1946 until Sunday June 18th, 2017. She passed away at her home surround by her loved ones in Lakeland, Florida. Carol was born in Streator, Illinois to Glenn and Rosalie (Crandall) Wise along with her twin brother Tom Wise. She graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School in 1964. Carol grew up in Gardner, Illinois before moving down to Lakeland, Florida in 1976. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her three children, Carrie, John and David, and four grandchildren Courtney, Jordan, David and Taylor. She is preceded in death by her parents and twin brother. The viewing will be held on June 22nd, 2017 from 10-12 at the Heath Funeral Chapel with the graveside service following at 12:30 at the Oak Hill Burial Park Cemetery. Thank you to the staff at Watson Clinic, Lakeland Regional Medical Center, BayCare Home Health, and Cornerstone Hospice for providing excellent care during our time of need. Carol would never forget to wish her daughter and granddaughter “Good Luck Donald Duck” for any and all of their endeavors. She also would say, “God Love ya” to any person who seemed to need it. To describe Carol Jean McElroy in just three words is a hard task seeing as she was known by so many for her wisecracks, timeless stories, priceless thoughts, loving words, and endless warm embraces. So for simplistic purposes, she was an altruistic, witty, and affable soul.
