Bruce Gladstone Baker 81 CEO of Employee Insurance Benefits of Florida LAKELAND, FL - Bruce G. Baker, 81, went home to the Lord February 22, 2014 due to complications from a heart attack at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. Bruce is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Barbara, son Scott (Carla), daughter Brenda, grandchildren Cara and Caitie and family members Rick, Sandy (Cliff), Patty and Debbie (Jon). Bruce was born September 20, 1932 in Binghamton, NY to Kenneth and Grace Baker. He went to college at the University of Buffalo and served in the United States Army during the Korea War. He began his post war career with Metropolitan and National Standard Life Insurance Companies in Florida and ultimately settled in Lakeland 1975 where he later founded Employee Insurance Benefits of FL in 1989. Bruce was a long time member and usher at First United Methodist Church and The Lakeland Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris award recipient. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday February 25, 2014, 2pm, at First United Methodist Church, Lakeland, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Lakeland, FL or The Lakeland Rotary Club. Bruce enjoyed life, his family, friends and golf. He was the light in our lives, always made you feel special and made you laugh, he will be greatly missed.
