Bruce E. Borgwardt

Bruce Earl Borgwardt, 74 United States Air Force Lakeland- Bruce E. Borgwardt, 74, died August 2, 2011 at Grace Manor due to end stage dementia. Mr. Borgwardt was born October 17, 1936 in Beloit, Wisconsin. He was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force and served his country for more than 20 years. Upon his retirement in 1973, he moved to Lakeland from Tampa. In 1977, he went back to college and received his B.A. degree in accounting from USF. He later retired from the State of Florida as an accountant with the Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Lakeland. Bruce was a dedicated and active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakeland and served on various boards and was an usher for many years. Mr. Borgwardt was preceded in death by his father Earl Borgwardt and a brother David Borgwardt. He is survived by his wife Helen Borgwardt, Lakeland, FL; daughters B""rbel (Jeff) Woodard, Kennesaw, GA, Claudia (Greg) Sleep, Breckenridge, CO, Suzanne (Ben) Blackstone, Lakeland, FL; grandchildren Shaun, Ian, Alex, Mason, Lilly, Sunny; Great Grandchildren Noah, Asher, Annaniah, Nahum; mother Elsie Borgwardt, Wisconsin; brothers Gerald Borgwardt, Illinois, Richard Borgwardt, Wisconsin, Robert Borgwardt, Wisconsin; and sister Beverly Craig, Wisconsin. A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Heath Funeral Chapel at 11 am with a visitation from 10 to 11. A reception will be held afterwards in the funeral home tribute center. An interment will take place Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
