Bonnie Gene Sale, 80 Homemaker and Community Volunteer Bonnie Gene Scamahorn Sale died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, January 22, 2018. Bonnie was born at home in Uniontown, Kentucky, on December 4, 1937 to Fannie Jane Harris and James W. Scamahorn. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1954 and attended Evansville College. She was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Lakeland and Church of the Holy Spirit in Mars Hill, North Carolina. Bonnie moved to Lakeland in 1956 and worked at First Federal in downtown Lakeland. As a Lakeland resident, she enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and tennis. She was a faithful volunteer at her children’s schools and that involvement extended to their many sports teams and extracurricular activities. Bonnie’s gracious passion for hosting philanthropic receptions benefited and established many local organizations such as Florida Southern College’s Sixth Man Club, Fine Arts Series, and the Beverly Wolf/Robert MacDonald Scholarship Fund. In addition, Bonnie organized fundraising events and opened her home to many Lakeland nonprofits like the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, The Polk Theatre, and United Way of Central Florida. Bonnie loved international travel and with her husband, “Streamline,” enjoyed summers at their beach house in Ponce Inlet, Florida and later, transitioned to spending summers in the mountains of Wolf Laurel, North Carolina. Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Streamline” Sale, her parents, and her sister, Suzanne Scamahorn Krietemeyer. She is survived by her sons, H. Allen Sale, Jr. (Marla); Gregory G. Sale (Christina); Robert H. Sale (Brittany); and her siblings, Diane Scamahorn Gay and James K. Scamahorn. Bonnie has six grandchildren, Ashlie Sale Chapman (Kyle), Christopher Sale (Brianne), Ethan Sale, Olivia Sale, Peyton Sale, and Harold Mahlon Sale. She has 5 great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. David’s Episcopal Church.
