BERTHA WAUNITA ORFF WOOD 1941-2014 LAKELAND, FL " Bertha Waunita Orff Wood, 72, passed away peacefully, March 7, in her home after her long brave battle with cancer. She was born November 14, 1941. She was raised in Thomaston, Maine where she attended Georges Valley High School. Shortly after, she met the love of her life and married William H Wood, celebrating their 52nd anniversary last June 10th. Together they lived in North Monmouth where they raised their two children and started their own business in 1974. They owned and operated Wood""s Tree Service for many years. Fifteen years ago, after partial retirement from Wood""s Tree Service, they moved to enjoy the warm weather in Lakeland, Florida. For years Bertha enjoyed gardening, her rose beds, crocheting and visits from her family. She loved her pets, feeding and taking in stray cats when she could. She cherished her family and friends, and was caring and loving to all who knew her, a true angel. Bertha is pre-deceased by her father and mother, Loren J and Nellie L Orff; two brothers, one half-sister and one half-brother. Bertha is survived by her husband, William H Wood Sr, of Lakeland, FL; their two children, Margaret Amy Wood and her companion Earl Welch, of Winter Haven, FL and William H Wood Jr and his fianc""e Renee Ellicott, of North Monmouth, ME; four grandchildren, Branden Morrow and wife Katie, of Lawton, OK, Shane Morrow, of Wayne, ME, Zachary Wood, of Augusta, ME and Veronica Wood, of Augusta, ME; five great-grandchildren; as well as one brother and three sisters.
