Barbara Smith Moore

Barbara Jane Moore (August 23,1934-August 12, 2021) Barbara Jane (Smith) Moore (86) passed peacefully on August 12, 2021, Barbara was born in West Orange, New Jersey, to Donald and Ruth Smith, and relocated back to Florida in 1944. She considered herself a Florida Native! Barbara was a proud mother to Diane Moore Muldoon (Tim) and Steven Moore, and a loving grandmother to Jenna Gard, Eric Gard, Kinsey Moore and Garret Moore. She is also survived by her caregivers, and our special love goes to Barbara’s Angels, Nancy Guthrie and Kristen Lutz. Barbara loved to travel the world, from skidding across the ocean to Bali on a barge to joining a photo excursion in Africa. She was a talented and passionate seamstress and she enjoyed gardening and her Gators. She was a member of the Junior League of Lakeland, where she particularly enjoyed providing school children with the opportunity to see Children’s Theatre by bringing the theatre troupe to the schools. She volunteered at The Polk Museum of Art, and the early years of the Central Florida Speech and Hearing Clinic and the Cerebral Palsy Clinic. Barbara was also a member of P.E.O. and Antique Club. A small family service will be held, followed by a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. Heath Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations will be welcomed for Bonnett Springs Park, The Polk Museum of Art or any of the charitable organizations listed above.
