Barbara Bunch Meacham Interior Decorator Barbara Bunch Meacham of Lakeland passed away peacefully June 3, 2012 from complications of lung cancer. Barbara was born February 27, 1933 in Statesville, North Carolina to George Harrell Bunch and Ruth Swofford Bunch. Barbara""s father""s business interest brought them to Haines City in the late 1940""s where she graduated from Haines City High School. She then attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland before transferring to Winthrop College in Rock Hill, South Carolina where she graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in home economics. In 1956 she married Robert Barnard Meacham at her parents summer home in Banner Elk, North Carolina. She and her husband located to Harlingen, Texas where Bob was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. After Robert""s discharge from active duty, they lived in Amarillo Texas and then in El Paso, Texas where her husband started a residential construction business in 1963. For many years Barbara worked as chief decorator and office manager in their business. They retired from the building business in 1989. Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert, daughter, Elizabeth Meacham Scott and her husband, Stanley James Scott, Jr., of Austin, Texas, grandson, Stanley James Scott III, Austin, Texas, granddaughter, Elizabeth Alexandra Scott of Austin, Texas. Also, survived by two sisters; Georgieanna Bunch Lester of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Ann Bunch Miles of Jacksonville, Florida. She was predeceased by both of her parents. Funeral arrangements are pending in Austin, TX.
