Ann Hardin Phillips 93 Homemaker LAKELAND " Ann Hardin Phillips passed away at age 93 on November 27, 2011 of natural causes. She moved to Lakeland in 2006 to live with family after residing in Chattanooga, TN for nearly 40 years. Ann was born October 15, 1918 in Nixon, TN, the eldest of eight children of Edgar and Juanita Hardin. Ann was married to William (Red) Woodrow Phillips for 50 years. Ann and Red were active members of Highland Plaza United Methodist Church in Hixson, TN, where Ann co-chaired the church bazaar and Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) luncheon for many years with her long-time friends, Betty Johnson and Nancy Cobb. Ann was a homemaker, and an accomplished seamstress and artist. She was a sweet, Southern lady with a great sense of humor even in her final days. Ann loved to shop and was the best dressed grandmother around. Ann""s cooking was second-to-none. Her favorite recipes will live on, especially during Thanksgiving when her cornbread dressing and creamed corn are perennial favorites. Ann is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Gerneil Carey, and brothers, Edgar and Austin Hardin. She is survived by her loving family, including her children Nina Wilson (Jerre) of Lakeland, Bill Phillips (Shelly) of Nicholasville, KY, and Mike Phillips (Susan) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Jay Wilson (Kelly) of Lakeland, Holly Wilson of Atlanta, Jennifer Wolsing of Nicholasville, KY, John Phillips of Knoxville, TN, Matt Phillips of Denver, CO, and Tim Phillips of Colorado Springs, CO; and great-grandchildren Katie, Josh and Zach Wilson, Sebastian Phillips, and Xavier Wolsing. Ann""s surviving siblings are Sarah Covington of White House, TN, Dick Hardin of Buford, GA, Rita Erwin of Goodlettsville, TN and Kay Rutherford of Donelson, TN. The family will receive friends at the Tribute Center at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland on Wednesday November 30 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral and burial services will follow in Chattanooga, TN.
