Andrew ""Andy"" John Alach, Jr., Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Friend, died Tuesday May 5th, 2015. Born October 16th, 1936, New Orleans, Louisiana, to Margaret Covic Alach and Andrew John Alach Sr., Andy grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi. He met his wife of 49 years, Joan Carol Laurance Alach while attending the Ray-Vogue School of Design in Chicago. He and Joan were married in Chicago January 28th, 1966 and relocated to Lakeland, Florida in 1971, where Andy established All American Signs, Inc., which is now owned and operated by his son. Andy was very involved in his community. He was an active member and former president of the Dixieland Lions Club of the Lions Clubs International, and a Citizen Patrol volunteer with the Winter Haven Police Department. Andy also taught yoga at Florida Southern College, and the City of Lakeland, and City of Winter Haven recreational centers. Since his retirement, Andy and his wife were avid antique collectors. He is survived by his wife, Joan, his daughter Susan Margaret Alach, his son Andrew John Alach III, daughter in law Kathryn Alach, his sisters Adri Anna Youngs and Catherine ""Connie"" Charitat, and five grand children, Ellen Catherine Earl, Anthony James Earl, John Cyril Earl, Andrew John Alach IV, and Phoebe Kathryn Alach. Kind, loving, gregarious, with an infectious sense of humor, Andy was loved by many and will be very missed. A Catholic Vigil will be held at the chapel of Resurrection Church, Hwy 37 in Lakeland, Tuesday, May 12th at 4 p.m. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Andy will be laid to rest in Biloxi, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to Lions Club International.
