Amos "Tom" Monroe Mote

Amos (Tom) M. Mote, 94 Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Lakeland " Tom M. Mote, 94, passed away on August 1, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, due to natural causes. He was born in Dahlonega, Georgia, on October 29, 1919 and was raised in Kokoma, Indiana. At the beginning of WWII, Tom joined the Army Air Core Flying Cadets and served in the Pacific. At the end of WWII, he served in Europe during its reconstruction. He also served in the Korean Conflict and as an advisor in the Vietnam War. He retired after 30 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his loving wife, Polly McCormick-Mote; three stepchildren, Paulette McCormick-Brunk, Welty McCormick Jr. (Debbie), and Dale McCormick (Mia); loving Niece, Diane Morris; six step grandchildren and fourteen step great grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August, 6, 2014 at 12:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at Heath Funeral Chapel. A military honor guard will pay tribute to Tom at the graveside service at Oak Hill Burial Park following the service.
