ALYS YAGER MORRISON, 93 LAKELAND - Alys Yager Morrison, 93, died March 6, 2015, due to complications from a fall. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan, but moved to Lake Wales, Florida at the age of three. She attended Florida State College for Women in 1939. Following World War II, she married the love of her life, Tilrow Morrison, whom she met while he was stationed at Avon Park Bombing Range. She spent most of her life in her adopted hometown of Plant City, Florida, where she devoted herself to her family, and spent her free time in civic affairs and helping at Saint Clement Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tilrow, her sons Adam Lee and Stephen, and her grandson, Adam Tilrow Morrison. She is survived by her son, Joseph Morrison and daughter-in-law, Lynne Morrison, of Lakeland; granddaughter, Erin Johnson and her husband, Kevin, of Plant City; granddaughters, Colleen and Claire Morrison; and great-grandchildren, Addison and Sam. Her family will always be grateful for the kind, loving care provided by her caregivers, especially Mary Nichols. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12 from 6 to 7 pm, followed by a Rosary Service at 7 pm, at Heath Funeral Chapel, Lakeland. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Joseph""s Catholic Church in Lakeland on Friday, March 13, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Nature Conservancy or other charity of your choice.
