Albert ""Tom"" Thomas McNeely, 93 Army Corps of Engineers Lakeland " Tom McNeely, 93 died on February 12, 2013 due to natural causes. He was born on November 11, 1919 in Farmington, KY and was raised on his family""s soy bean and tobacco farm. He graduated from Farmington High School in Kentucky. Tom married Eva Katherine Green on November 17, 1942 and shared 66 years of marriage before her death on July 19, 2009. He was a World War II Army veteran, stationed and fought in the Aleutian Islands. He spent 33 years with the US Army Corps of Engineers as a registered licensed professional engineer. He retired after 27 years working with FEMA. Tom was the Sunday school superintendent for the First United Methodist Church in Manchester, TN. He was a 33rd degree Mason, Scottish Rite president, an ambassador of the Oleika Shriner Temple in Lexington, KY, and a member of the Eastern Star in Morehead, KY. Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, FL. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, boating, refereeing high school basketball, and became a world class barbequer, best known for his ribs. Mr. McNeely is predeceased by his wife, Eva Katherine Green; father, Allen Tolbert McNeely; mother, Maggie Mae Hughes; sisters, Eva Boyd and Ida Ruth Boyd; brothers, Otto, Carl, James B, and Billy Joe McNeely. He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Pam), Pasadena, CA. and Marshall (Kim), Lakeland, FL; daughter, Charlotte Gibson (Jim), Dothan, AL; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave, Auburndale, FL. 33823 and the Shriner""s Children""s Hospital, 12502 Pine Drive, Tampa, FL. 33612.
