Mrs. Adelyn Garofalo Standridge, age 77, of Lakeland, FL, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Good Shepherd Hospice House. She was born in Utica, NY, on May 24, 1942, daughter of the late Dominick Sr. and Teadosia Getti Garofalo. Adelyn was raised in Utica, NY, receiving her education in local Utica schools. On April 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to James P. Standridge. In her early years, Adelyn did clerical work for Utica Gear and data entry for Univac. The majority of her years were spent being a devoted wife and mother. That was, by far, her most rewarding and fulfilling role. To her, family was a priority and it was of utmost importance. Her loving, caring, and nurturing disposition made it possible for traditions to live on through her children and grandchildren. In July of 1981, her husband earned a promotion which prompted a relocation to Lakeland, Florida, where she resided for nearly thirty nine years. She was a parishioner of Resurrection Catholic Church in Lakeland. Adelyn enjoyed many hobbies including crafts such as crocheting dish clothes and afghans. An avid bowler including mixed leagues, ladies invitational scratch league, and national tournaments which allowed her to travel; something else she enjoyed. A favorite past time was going out to dinner and participating in gaming/casino play. Survived by husband, James P. Standridge, of Lakeland, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Dan Taylor, of Lakeland, FL; son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Hilka Standridge, of Lakeland, FL; cherished grandchildren, Craig Black, Dominick Black, Alyssa Black, Kirsten Standridge, and Branden Standridge; great-grandchild, Corvin Black; a brother and sister-in-law, Dominick and Madeline Garofalo, of Clinton, NY; sister-in-law, Dawn Garofalo, of Endicott, NY. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Garofalo. Visitation and Funeral service will be at graveside for immediate family only, due to the social distancing requirement of COVID-19, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery at 11:30 A.M.
