Elmer Charles Smallwood Sr, 76, of Lakeland, Florida and formerly Dawsonville, Georgia passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Charles was born in Hall County, Georgia on August 1, 1945 to the late Jim Smallwood and Meluins Savage. He married his soul mate, Judith Carol Chamblee, on August 18, 1967. Charles lived every moment of his life for his 4 children, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He supported his family through his lifelong trade of carpentry and had a love for recreational fishing, playing the guitar and bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith Smallwood, son Elmer Charles Smallwood Jr, granddaughter Amber Reese Stewart, two sisters Virginia and LouGennie Loggins, and three brothers YD, LD and Roger Smallwood. Charles is survived by his daughters Elmeran and Angel, son Conrad, brothers Robert and BD, grandchildren Justin, Austin, Clayton, Wyatt, Hayden, Trevor, Calvin, Jared, Emily, Alyssa, Kailey, Libby, Nathaniel, Daniel and Mary, and great-grandchildren Jeremy, Ella, Jasper and Zoey. A Celebration of life will be held at Crestview Baptist Church at 6:00pm on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 615 Old Polk City Rd, Lakeland Florida 33809. This will be followed by an Ash Scattering Ceremony on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 2:30pm at sea from Hubbard’s Marina, 170 John’s Pass Boardwalk, Madeira Beach, Florida 33708. Flowers may be sent to Crestview Baptist Church the day of the Celebration of Life. The family would like to thank Vitas Healthcare for their compassionate Hospice care and everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
