Elizabeth (Betty) Delong Huber Registered Nurse Lakeland – Elizabeth (Betty) Huber passed away on September 23, 2018. She was born in Peasleeville, New York on December 26, 1919. She graduated from Peru High School in 1937, and Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1941, and received her R.N. degree. She moved with her family to Lakeland, Florida in 1954, and began working at the old Merrell Hospital. She transferred to Lakeland General upon its completion and worked in the orthopedic department. She retired from nursing in 1979. She was a member of CV-PH Nurses Alumni Association, a life-time member of the order of Eastern Star and an active member of United Methodist Temple, its Adult Fellowship and Living Bible Sunday School Classes. She was an avid baseball fan, enjoyed traveling, reading, camping, gardening and daily walks along Cleveland Heights Blvd. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dora Devins; husbands Vernon Delong and Wendell Huber; great-grandson, Conner M. Ford; three brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her son, Bruce Delong, and daughter, Lori Ford, both of Lakeland; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018, at 10 am at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 South Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 30772, Tampa, Florida 33630.
