Albert Romero Coringrato, Sr.

Albert Romero Coringrato, Sr. passed away on May 19, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Tampa. He was born May 26, 1929 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. After high school, Albert served in the Korean War as a flight engineer at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. When the war ended, he was a civilian contractor with the Air Force. During that time he started his own gas station/garage, Al""s Atlantic, in New Jersey. He later bought Cherry Hill Garage. Albert met his wife of 45 plus years, Mary D. Coringrato, in New Jersey and had several children. After his civilian contract with the Air Force ended, he sold his garages and moved to Florida in the early 70""s. There Albert started All Weather Foam, specializing in commercial industrial insulation for the citrus industry. For 30 years, he insulated many of the citrus industry""s coolers, warehouses, and storage units. He was very active with St. Joseph Catholic church. He was president of the church council and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He helped feed the homeless and deliver communion to the nursing homes. Along with his wife, he was a special minister of the Eucharist. He also helped spearhead the mission to have St. Anthony Catholic Church built in Lakeland. During retirement, Albert and his wife, Mary, traveled and went on many cruises. His wife passed in 2005 and he spent the remaining years of retirement active in the Catholic Church. He is survived by his two sons, Antony and Albie Coringrato; three grandchildren, Tyler, Clayton, and Marissa Coringrato; Two sisters; Natalie Brown and Jean Brinker; One Brother, Ettore Coringrato; and two godchildren, Rudy Brown III and Bonnie Patchell. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 12:30 pm with interment at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
